It's pretty much simple. Either we get privacy on the biggest Defi ecosystem in existence. Yes that's ETH and it's delivering with Railgun, Aztec etc. Or privacy will forever be a niche usecase, which can be easily shut down (Zcash needs on- / offramps, hasn't Defi etc.).
